Safety Concerns
The
Wild Goose Company is concerned about safety. All of our
kits are safety tested to meet ASTM (American Society for
Testing and Materials) standards and each kit is complete
with a Certificate of Conformity. All of our packaging provides
any necessary warning labels to inform you of any potential
risks. In addition, each science kit provides detailed information
in an activity guide that addresses general safety rules
as well as general first aid. For those kits that contain
any chemicals, appropriate safety information is printed
on both the packaging and the activity guide.
The practice of safe lab habits is always encouraged by
the Wild Goose Company to avoid unnecessary problems before
they can occur.
Safe
lab habits include:
- Performing
all activities under adult supervision and asking for
help when needed
- Keeping
items out of the reach of young children and pets
- Reading
all directions before experimenting
- Wearing
eye protection and gloves when necessary
- Washing
hands and cleaning up messes
- Not
eating or drinking in the experiment area
- Avoiding
the smell of chemicals or fumes by keeping substances
12 inches away from the student’s nose
- Disposing
of items properly
- Avoiding
all horseplay
- Not
using fire without adult supervision and learning how
to use a fire extinguisher
In
any lab, whether at school or on the dining room table at
home, carelessness can potentially cause an injury. It is
important to use Wild Goose chemicals and equipment correctly.
Please make sure that safety rules are observed at all times;
following the safe lab habits reduces the risk of accident
or injury for everyone!
